Illenium - Three Thoughts on Addiction (Vevo Originals)

“Addiction is fucked. It makes you fall in love with something that can’t love you back.” ILLENIUM comes by his opinion the hard way. The famed producer/DJ, whose real name is Nick Miller, has struggled heavily with the impact of drug abuse. Last year’s “Feel Good” reminded listeners that we all need to rely on each other during personal crises. But fans also know that ILLENIUM is totally candid about his problems, too. “Take You Down” was inspired by a desperate moment in his life. Miller, who has lived through an OD scare, had been kicked out of rehab, and felt he had nowhere left to go before his mom’s love steered him straight. He discusses the ups and downs of his plight in our “3 Thoughts…Addiction,” powered by truth, Ad Council and the Office of National Drug Control Policy. “Every [new] song is part of a healing process,” says ILLENIUM, “and what helped me stay on the right path was a close community of friends.”

Your song❣ Take You Down ❣ always makes me cry genuine tears of joy and sadness because it reminds me of the darkest time of life but at the same time ended being the eye opener that saved my life. The worst part about addiction is the lives you hurt and effect with your problems and selfishness that comes from addiction, especially when its your family and people you could never live without. I smile now knowing I can atone for my wrongs and those people who really mattered and understand are still here with me on this journey of recovery. One day at a time 🙏 16 months sober of narcotics and still going ❤ 🙌

Those are some very true and meaningful words, but you also speak words as strong as those through your music as well. I'm extremely happy that you were able to overcome that challenge and are able to continue to make some amazing songs and bring light to people's darkest days. Much love Illenium.

"having a community of people that care about you to the core is essential" ... wtf most people have problems because they don't have people that love them. dude has a massively supportive family but has addiction issues so we should all feel bad for him. you want to beat addiction? love yourself. dont listen to peoples bull shit advice.

"For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 6:23

For all those who might be struggling with addiction, I would encourage you to seek after life in the only place that it can truly be found. Christ is the only one who can heal your addiction, and give you the fulfillment that things of this world just can't. He radically changed my heart when I was in a dark place, and has shown my the beauty of life that is in him.

Repent, and believe the Gospel my friends. Do it right now. Have life abundantly. God bless you all.
