Illenium - Three Thoughts on Addiction (Vevo Originals)

“Addiction is fucked. It makes you fall in love with something that can’t love you back.” ILLENIUM comes by his opinion the hard way. The famed producer/DJ, whose real name is Nick Miller, has struggled heavily with the impact of drug abuse. Last year’s “Feel Good” reminded listeners that we all need to rely on each other during personal crises. But fans also know that ILLENIUM is totally candid about his problems, too. “Take You Down” was inspired by a desperate moment in his life. Miller, who has lived through an OD scare, had been kicked out of rehab, and felt he had nowhere left to go before his mom’s love steered him straight. He discusses the ups and downs of his plight in our “3 Thoughts…Addiction,” powered by truth, Ad Council and the Office of National Drug Control Policy. “Every [new] song is part of a healing process,” says ILLENIUM, “and what helped me stay on the right path was a close community of friends.”

I wish there was no such thing as addiction. High props to you man for beating your battle n’ sticking through it. That takes so much commitment and “want” to wanna change yourself n’ get outa whatever the case is. Unfortunately my 19 y/o sister has been using Heroin since she was 16 & I found her about 3 weeks ago on the kitchen floor freezing cold and blue in the face. Her body temp was 70 degrees and I thought that was the last image of her I was gonna see in person. Of course I’ll never get that picture out of my head nor will my rents, but luckily we had 3 Narcans left and the 3rd one brought her back. As of now she’s in rehab but this isn’t the first time. She’s taking this all out on my rents like it’s their fault n’ it’s just not fair. I wish addicts were able to see the other side of people’s feelings for them, meaning getting help and how we obviously don’t wanna lose them in any way. I truly hope my sister can defeat this like u did. You’re an inspiration to many and I highly appreciate that💙

I cannot relate to this more. I am a current alcoholic and struggle everyday. Instead of looking at everything in the past as a failure, instead look at it as a step in the right direction. Thank you illenium.
