I like the focus on the need for legislative action. The reality with problems of this scale is that you can't rely on individuals, who are just trying to live their lives as comfortably as possible, to collectively and continually sacrifice their quality of life to address an issue that largely doesn't effect their day to day lives in a negative way; it goes against basic human nature. If you want to effectively rectify a systemic issue, then you need to address it at it's source. In this case, that's the law. Minhaj and his team are wise for recognizing this.

This is the truth. Damn. Been fighting the urge to go to Amazon for three days now. In my situation it doesn't help that I do not drive. It's too easy to order what I want and have it here in two days.

Unfortunately, I still use amazon when I need something I can't find elsewhere.
They did make me incredibly angry a few months ago though. I canceled prime, because I only had it for music and videos and now you have to pay extra for music and videos anyway. My sister and mom share my account, and my sister ordered a book and clicked on "2 day shipping." So, they immediately charged my card $123 for a year's subscription of prime. I called them and asked them WHY the hell they thought I canceled, and then turned around and wanted a year's subscription. They've changed so that even if you don't have prime, the 2-day shipping option still shows up, and if you click it, it automatically charges your card, without any verification that you meant to/want it. Anyway, I stopped using amazon music and videos- the only reason I use them now is when I can't find what I need anywhere else.

So, for anyone wondering, this is how you tell the difference between a liberal and a leftist. Only a liberal could go on a 20 minute rant about the evils of capitalism without condemning the system itself. He literally didn't say the word capitalism a single time.

Man u r making me scared. I am a IT professional, i have friends who work for Amazon(most probably for Amazon web servies bcoz even they are IT professionals) and i was thinking of switching to Amazon bcoz they pay really good amount and even the work environment is great, but now after watching this episode i don't wanna join an evil corporation which takes out competition by its evil practices. Now i get why Indian government made policy changes to restrict these companies to sell their products at a cheaper price(Amazon had to pull out thousands of products). Always proud to be an Indian who stops such companies.

If these companies are not stopped now then maybe in few years they will start to interfere with geo political issues around the world. After few more years they will start selecting politician's and one morning we wake up and whole world is colonised by Jeff Bezos (Same way how East India Company colonised India).

Why does Hassan keep telling at me?😰

Indian regulations are doing exactly this. Amazon can't sell products with more than 25% stake of its own while going for marketplace model (openly selling all products).
Else they gotta restrict and pay taxes like a manufacturing company + retailers share and some additional levy to promote small Indian budding startups.
